Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus Make Time’s 100 Most Influential People List

April 24, 2014

Beyoncé on the cover of Time magazineTime Magazine has released its list of the 100 most influential people in 2014. Beyoncé, who rocked the cover, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams and Carrie Underwood have found themselves among the selected few.

As is tradition, each Most Influential pick is accompanied by a short explanation written by a high-profile guest contributor. Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook and founder of LeanIn.org, praises Beyoncé saying she “doesn’t just sit at the table. She builds a better one. Today she sits at the head of the boardroom table at Parkwood Entertainment.”

Dolly Parton supports her goddaughter Miley Cyrus, saying “If I didn’t know how smart and talented Miley is, I might worry about her. But I’ve watched her grow up. So I don’t. She knows what she’s doing.”

Justin Timberlake penned a piece about Pharrell Williams, writing, “That’s what Pharrell does. He injects that vibrant energy into the music in a way that you can feel. Whether it’s the chord changes that remind you of another time or the melody that instantly grabs you, you are transported to another place. You smile, you dance, you clap along. His music actually does make you happy.”

Brad Paisley honors Carrie Underwood, writing, “She’s an advocate for causes like animal rights and the Red Cross. She has publicly challenged lawmakers when she’s disagreed with them, and covered controversial issues in her music. She can sing the fire out of a song and tell a joke.”

The complete Time 100 list of influential people can be seen now on Time.com and in the magazine, on stands this Friday.
