How to Add Songs to Your iPod with iTunes

August 30, 2010

To get started using your iPod, you may first want to transfer some songs from your iTunes on your PC or laptop to iPod. Let me show you how to do it!

Step 1: Connect your iPod to the USB cable that came with your iPod, and then insert the other end to a USB slot on your computer.

Step 2: Launch iTunes. The program may also automatically open once your computer recognizes the connection, depending on your settings. Your iPod should appear under Devices in the bar to the left. If it’s the first time you plug it into your computer, iTunes will ask you what you want to name it.

Step 3: Click “File” at the top of the screen and select “New Playlist”. Name it whatever you want; for example “My iPod Playlist” or something like that.

Step 4: Drag the songs you want from your iTunes library to your new playlist.

Step 5: Drag that playlist onto your iPod icon.

Step 6: Disconnect your iPod using the eject button and then unplug your iPod from the USB cable connected to your computer.
