‘Hope for Haiti Now’ Tops Billboard Charts

The ‘Hope for Haiti Now’ benefit album for Haitian earthquake victims has debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
The digital-only album sold 171,000 copies according to tracking firm Nielsen SoundScan making it the first digital-only album to top the Billboard 200 in the chart’s nearly 54-year history. The album featuring performances from the telethon held last Friday in Los Angeles.
The ‘Hope for Haiti Now’ has 19 tracks featuring performances by Beyoncé, Shakira, Taylor Swift, Sting and Kid Rock among others as well as the lead off single ‘Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)’ by Jay-Z, Bono, Rihanna and The Edge.
